CAMM-3 Three Axis Devices
(PNC-3200)
Computer-Integrated Rapid Prototyping and Machining
As falling prices and enhanced performance make personal
computers more popular than ever, conventional CAD is approaching
the three-dimensional versatility of CAM, and is becoming
ever more accessible. Design for automation using wire frames
and solid modeling is now common, but for actual 3D modeling
output, only complete systems based on NC (numerical control)
were available. For many years Roland CAMM-3 machines have
utilized revolutionary computer aided modeling and rapid
prototyping. Since it's introduction, the CAMM-3 has proven
itself in a diverse range of industries, research facilities,
and educational institutions.
The CAMM-3's native 3D CAMM-GL language is based on the
HP-GL graphics language, which has become the conventional
standard for the CAD field. This makes the CAMM-3 an exciting
product that can use designs from CAD applications to create
mock-ups and actual prototypes on the spot. A wide range
of improvements were made in designing the new PNC-3200
model, continuing Roland's tradition of offering truly capable
desktop milling systems.
In addition to prototyping, the CAMM-3 PNC-3200 can be
used to machine finished parts. It is designed to mill aluminum,
brass, and other non-ferrous metals. For prototyping, the
PNC-3200 performs with plastics, chemical wood and resin
forms, and wax. Its precision provides consistent, professional
results on many materials. The small footprint and design
are right at home next to the computer on your desktop,
making it a practical addition to your workstation.
High Precision
The highly precise PNC-3200 offers 0.00125 mm (0.00005")
per step (micro-step control) for mechanical resolution
and 0.1 mm (0.0004") per step for software resolution.
All CAMM-3 models, including the PNC-3200, feature a 3D
controlling capability to accurately control three-axis
movement. The new smoothing function adopted for the PNC-3200
also achieves high performance cutting for arcs and curves.
All these features ensure that the integrity of your design
will be reflected in your prototype every time.
Open Architecture Design
The PNC-3200's commands
are based on HP-GL emulation, which means that it can be driven
from PCs, Macintoshes, workstations, and commercially available
software for each platform, allowing you to use the software
of your choice. Programs such as AutoSurf/Automill, Microstation,
QuickSurf, Cadkey, Personal Designer, SmartCAM, MasterCAM,
SurfCAM, AutoCAD with NC Polaris and others can be used. Even
operators familiar with conventional G-Codes can use Roland's
recommended software. In addition, every PNC-3200 is equipped
with both parallel (Centronics) and serial (RS-232C) interface
ports, ensuring compatibility with the various types of hardware
on the market.
Supports a Wide Variety of Materials
Milling can be accomplished with materials such as modeling
wax, chemical wood, modeling foam, many types of resins,
and soft non-ferrous metals like aluminium and brass. Because
the material can be chosen to meet the need, the PNC-3200
offers a wide range of opportunities in a broader range
of output options in a broad range of applications.
Unleash Your Creative Power
Creative abilities
and machine potential should be put to full use in designs
for prototyping and short-run production. That is why the
PNC-3200 is loaded with an array of features that support
work efficiency without impeding task flow. The maximum
operation speed of the PNC-3200 is extremely fast. A memory
buffer of 1MB is standard. This means that once data has
been sent, it can be used and reused for output as many
times as necessary.
